Trigg and Melendez Join "Beatdown"

It may be belated but the latest "Beatdown" with TJ De Santis and Sherdog.com editor Josh Gross is worth the wait. New ICON Sport middleweight champion Frank Trigg (Pictures) and undefeated lightweight Gilbert Melendez (Pictures) discuss the latest happenings in their respective careers.

Trigg suffered a loss earlier this year to a then fairly unknown Carlos Condit (Pictures) in the Rumble on the Rock 175-pound tournament. After the fight Trigg said he would walk away from competition. But he returned to the ring on Friday and scored a surprising victory over Jason "Mayhem" Miller. "Twinkle Toes" discusses his comeback victory over the heavily-favored Miller.

When he's not fighting, Trigg serves as color commentator for the PRIDE Fighting Championship. Trigg answers questions about the speculation surrounding the Japanese organization's financial situation, as well as their future plans in America.

Gilbert "El Nino" Melendez is the Strikeforce lightweight champion. Sporting an impressive 11-0-0 mixed martial arts record, he faces what should be his toughest opponent to date on New Year's Even against Shooto champion and PRIDE veteran Tatsuya Kawajiri (Pictures). Gilbert talks about the fight, his status with Strikeforce, and PRIDE moving "Bushido" bouts to the main cards.

Josh Gross was on hand for the bodogFIGHT card in Vancouver over the weekend and shares his thoughts on the fights and the promotion. TJ and Josh also respond to listener e-mail.
