Sean O’Malley to Undergo Surgery on Injured Foot Sustained at UFC 222

Undefeated prospect Sean O'Malley, who was first noticed on Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series, is scheduled for surgery to repair the injury he suffered to his foot in his last fight against Andre Soukhamthath earlier this month at UFC 222. O’Malley won the fight by unanimous decision after dominating his opponent in the opening two rounds. He capped off the performance by conducting his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan while lying on his back.

According to MMA Fighting, O’Malley is set to have surgery on his right foot this Friday.

O’Malley (10-0 MMA & 2-0 UFC) recently told SevereMMA.com that the Ultimate Fighting Championship had asked if the 23 year old would consider fighting on the upcoming “The Ultimate Fighter” Finale card on July 6. This was before O’Malley required surgery, although no potential opponent was proposed at the time.

The prospect is expected to return to the Octagon in the fall.
