“Unfortunately this heavyweight division is tied up right now,” White said on Saturday. “The fight won’t happen until March, the next heavyweight [title] fight. We’ll see how this thing plays out, and we’ll go from there.”

However, Werdum’s team told UFC Tonight that the heavyweight king is ready to return as soon as December or January. The Brazilian is currently healthy and awaiting direction from the Las Vegas-based promotion, according to the report.

The UFC has already announced that Werdum will make his first title defense in a rematch against Cain Velasquez. “Vai Cavalo” captured heavyweight gold by submitting Velasquez with a guillotine choke 2:13 into the third round at UFC 188.The 38-year-old Kings MMA representative has won his last six fights.
