Demetrious Johnson-Henry Cejudo Title Rematch to Co-Headline UFC 227

The Ultimate Fighting Championship has announced the Octagon return of the UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson in a highly-anticipated rematch against top contender Henry Cejudo at UFC 227 in Los Angeles.

Johnson first fought Cejudo at UFC 197 in Las Vegas in April 2016, where he defended his flyweight title by dropping the Olympic gold medalist with knees to the body in the first round. The loss represented Cejudo’s first defeat in his professional career.

The world’s No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter is looking forward to his 12th title defense, after successfully breaking Anderson Silva’s 10 title defense record this past October. He achieved it by defeating Ray Borg at UFC 216 via an impressive suplex-to-armbar submission in the fifth round.

Cejudo is coming off back-to-back victories over Wilson Reis and Sergio Pettis to earn his second shot at the 125-pound title.

The rematch will be the co-main event for UFC 227, which will take place on Aug. 4 at the Staples Center and is headlined by a bantamweight championship rematch between T.J. Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt.
