UFC Fortaleza: By the Numbers
Kelvin Gastelum appears to have found a home at 185 pounds.
“The Ultimate Fighter 17” winner put together his second consecutive impressive performance at middleweight, knocking out Vitor Belfort 3:52 into the opening round of their main event showdown at UFC Fight Night 106 in Fortaleza on Saturday. With triumphs over Belfort and Tim Kennedy under his belt, Gastelum is now targeting a showdown with Anderson Silva later this year (online betting).

1-4: Record for Belfort in the Octagon since 2015. That slump comes on the heels of Belfort’s three-fight knockout streak of Dan Henderson, Luke Rockhold and Michael Bisping in 2013, when “The Phenom” was aided by the use of testosterone replacement therapy.

Rua’s last lengthy winning streak occurred from 2006 to 2007, when he earned successive victories over Cyrille Diabate, Kevin Randleman, Kazuhiro Nakamura and Alistair Overeem under the Pride Fighting Championships banner.

85: Total strikes by which Marion Reneau outlanded Bethe Correia in their bantamweight duel. Reneau outlanded her Brazilian foe by an 89-to-12 margin in the third round, which resulted in a trio of 10-8 scorecards from the cageside judges. The bout was ruled a majority draw after three rounds.

4: North-south choke finishes in UFC history after Michel Prazeres used to maneuver to submit Joshua Burkman 1:42 into the first round of their lightweight encounter. The others to utilize the submission in UFC competition are Jake Ellenberger (UFC 184), Rani Yahya (UFC on Fox 4) and Jeff Monson (UFC 57).
1,084: Days since Rony Mariano Bezerra’s last official UFC triumph, a first-round technical knockout triumph over Steven Siler at UFC Fight Night 38. Rony “Jason” lost a unanimous decision to Jeremy Kennedy in a preliminary featherweight bout on Saturday night.
8: Takedowns landed in nine attempts by Kennedy, giving him 13 takedowns landed in two UFC appearances.
9: Career first-round finishes for Paulo Henrique Costa, who stopped Garreth McLellan in 77 seconds in his Octagon debut.
