James Vick: By the Numbers

One of the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s best fighters from Texas, James Vick returns to his home state yet again on Feb. 18 at UFC Fight Night 126 in a 155-pound contest with Francisco Trinaldo.

Winner of three straight, Vick is on the verge of entering the lightweight title picture if he can extend his win streak in a very difficult test against Trinaldo, who has similar title aspirations and has won eight of his last nine.

Before Vick returns to The Lone Star State to take on “Massaranduba,” let’s take a closer look at his career by the numbers.

3: “The Ultimate Fighter” wins. Vick went 3-1 on TUF, losing in the semi-finals of the tournament. Vick fell to Michael Chiesa via second round TKO to end his appearance on the live edition of the series.

4: Decision wins. Vick’s 12-1 record includes four decision victories. All four have come via unanimous decision.

0: Fight Night losses. UFC Fight Night cards have been incredibly kind to Vick since joining the UFC. The lightweight holds a perfect 5-0 record and returns to a UFCFN card after consecutive pay-per-view lineup appearances.

1: Career bout at welterweight. Prior to making the jump to the big show, the lightweight made a single appearance at welterweight at STFC 16 “All or Nothing.” Vick defeated Mike Salazar via first round TKO.

1: Performance of the Night bonus. Vick has rarely received fight bonuses in his UFC career, with just a single POTN award for a guillotine choke victory against Jake Matthews at UFC Fight Night 65.

7: Fights in his home state of Texas. Vick has unsurprisingly fought and competed well in Texas throughout his career. Vick is a perfect 7-0, including a win at UFC 211 in Dallas against Marco Polo Reyes.

0.9: Submission attempts per 15 minutes. With five submission wins, Vick attempts 0.9 submissions per fight to date in his career per Fight Metric’s numbers.
