BetUS.com lists Du Plessis as a -200 favorite for the main event, with Strickland as the +165 underdog. In the co-headliner, Suarez is favored at -125, with Zhang coming back at -105.
Du Plessis, 31, steps back into view on a 10-fight winning streak that includes a January 2024 split decision over Strickland. The South African star sports a 91% finish rate, having delivered 20 of his 22 career victories by knockout, technical knockout or submission. Du Plessis last saw action at UFC 304, where he put away Israel Adesanya with a face crank in the fourth round of their Aug. 17 confrontation. Strickland, meanwhile, has won four of his past five bouts. The 33-year-old Xtreme Couture rep last suited up on June 1, when he was awarded split scorecards against Paulo Costa at UFC 302. Only two men—Alex Pereira and Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos—have stopped Strickland in 25 professional appearances.
UFC 312 also features a heavyweight tilt pairing Tallison Teixeira (-135) with Justin Tafa (+105), a light heavyweight affair pitting Rodolfo Bellato (-155) against Jimmy Crute (+125) and welterweight battle matching Jake Matthews (-215) with Francisco Prado (+175). Featherweights receive top billing on the undercard, as Brazilian TKO export Gabriel Santos collides with former Eternal MMA champion Jack Jenkins (+185) at 145 pounds.
