Preview: PFL Champions Series 1 ‘Road to Dubai’
Nemkov vs. Johnson
Heavyweights
Vadim Nemkov (17-2-1, 1-0 PFL) vs. Tim Johnson (18-10, 1-1 PFL)A former Bellator champion, Nemkov was one of the best light heavyweights in the world for years. Now, the FedorTeam standout is determined to make a place for himself at heavyweight. Nemkov hasn’t lost a fight since 2016—and for good reason. He’s a standout combat sambo practitioner who can mix it up at all three levels. On the other side of the cage, there’s no such thing as a dull Johnson fight. The Minnesota native is a 6-foot-3 giant who either sleeps his opponent or goes down swinging. In his last five fights, Johnson has made it out of the first round only once. He packs dynamite in both hands and will look to engage Nemkov before he can settle into his ground game. The opening minutes of this fight should be explosive. Johnson knows that he will be in serious trouble in Nemkov takes him down, so he will be pressed to swing for something big early. Nemkov will have to be cautious about timing his takedowns, but if he finds a good shot, this will be over quickly. Nemkov has the goods to drag the bigger man to the mat and brutalize him with ground-and-pound. Expect a short and explosive easy win for the former champion.
