Patrick Mix Wants to Prove His Mettle against Tough Opponent Magomed Magomedov

Patrick Mix is well aware he has one of the toughest tests in his career ahead of him at Bellator 289, where he will lock horns with Magomed Magomedov.

Former King of the Cage champion Mix (16-1, 6-1 Bellator) is a couple of victories away from winning the ongoing $1 million Bellator MMA 135-pound grand prix. “Patchy” shocked the world in his latest appearance when he upended former Rizin Fighting Federation champion and Bellator divisional kingpin Kyoji Horiguchi on all scorecards. In that fight, Mix proved he had worked on his conditioning for five-round bouts, something that impacted his performance when he failed to capture the 135-pound championship in his Bellator 246 clash with Juan Archuleta. Mix made the most out of the stinging defeat and is now on a three-bout win streak. To secure the victory in his upcoming assignment, Mix left no stone unturned in preparing for Magomedov, a former Absolute Championship Berkut titleholder who also boasts a triumph over former Ultimate Fighting Championship kingpin Petr Yan.

“I just knew how good Magomedov was. Getting closer to the million dollar finale too, there's just more incentives. Obviously, I want a shot at that belt. I think I'm just really growing into my own era. I'm getting more mature as a man. I took this fight very seriously because I knew the danger I'm going into this one. He's very good and he has a very, very good name. He was the ACB champion. He's one of the best outta Dagestan as well. [He’s] 19-2. He split with Peter Yan 1-1. I truly believe if there was more rounds in the Stots fight, he could have potentially won that one as well. He's just one of the best bantamweights in the world, and I have a chance to prove myself against him, you know what I mean? To go capture that name, to put on a solid performance and to really show the world who I am and how skilled I truly am in MMA.”
