Infographic: Anatomy of the 10-8 Round

Mike Fridley Brian KnappDec 15, 2012
UFC on Fox 5 will be remembered for lightweight champion Benson Henderson’s masterful performance against Nate Diaz, Rory MacDonald’s one-sided thrashing of B.J. Penn and a flurry of 10-8 rounds cast by judges Marcos Rosales, Dave Hagen, Sal D’Amato, Terry Boehlke and Lester Griffin.

There were seven 10-8 scorecards rendered by the judges on Dec. 8 at the Key Arena in Seattle. In the previous 27 Ultimate Fighting Championship events in 2012, there were only 10. Four of the 11 bouts on the UFC on Fox 5 lineup resulted in at least one 10-8 round: Henderson vs. Diaz, MacDonald vs. Penn, Alexander Gustafsson vs. Mauricio Rua and Dennis Siver vs. Nam Phan.

This infographic pairs those eyebrow-raising scorecards with statistical data provided by FightMetric.com.
