Holloway has won two of his past three bouts. The 31-year-old Gracie Technics star last fought on July 2, when he wound up on the wrong side of a unanimous decision against reigning featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski and fell to 0-3 in his head-to-head series with the Aussie. Holloway owns a 19-7 record in the UFC.

Allen, 29, enters the cage on the strength of a 12-fight winning streak. The Tristar Gym product last appeared at UFC Fight Night 213, where a Calvin Kattar knee injury made him a technical knockout victor in the second round of their Oct. 29 confrontation. Allen holds a perfect 10-0 mark in the UFC.

UFC on ESPN 44 “Allen vs. Holloway” also features a bantamweight affair matching Chris Gutierrez (-210) with Pedro Munhoz (+165), a lightweight clash pitting Rafa Garcia (-275) against Clay Guida (+215) and a pair of light heavyweight tilts, as Dustin Jacoby (-155) meets Azamat Murzakanov (+125) and Ion Cutelaba (-140) faces Tanner Boser (+110).

Featherweights highlight the eight-fight undercard, where former Ring of Combat champion Bill Algeo awaits fellow Dana White’s Contender Series alum T.J. Brown at 145 pounds.
