A ballet of violence seems like a virtual certainty.

Chan Sung Jung will collide with Dan Ige in the UFC on ESPN 25 headliner this Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, where the two all-action featherweight contenders figure to move the needle for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Jung has rattled off six wins in nine outings since he joined the UFC roster as part of the World Extreme Cagefighting merger in 2011. He last competed at UFC Fight Night 180, where he lost a unanimous decision to Brian Ortega in their Oct. 17 main event. Ige, meanwhile, has won seven of his past eight bouts. He last appeared at UFC Fight Night 187 on March 13, when he knocked out Gavin Tucker in just 22 seconds.

As Jung and Ige make their final preparations, a look at some of the numbers they have compiled to this point:

34: Years of age for Jung, who was born on March 17, 1987 in Pohang, South Korea, a seaport city on the eastern side of the East Asia nation located more than 5,900 miles from Ultimate Fighting Championship headquarters.

6: Jung victories by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 38% of his career total (16). His list of victims includes former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and “The Ultimate Fighter 14” finalist Dennis Bermudez. Jung holds eight other victories by submission and two more by decision.

3: Sub-minute finishes on the Jung resume. He punched out Fanjin Son in 17 seconds at Deep 39 Impact on Dec. 10, 2008, cut down Mark Hominick with punches in seven seconds at UFC 140 on Dec. 10, 2011 and wiped out Renato Carneiro with punches in 58 seconds at UFC Fight Night 154 on June 22, 2019.

8: Post-fight bonuses banked by Jung across his nine appearances in the UFC. He has been awarded “Performance of the Night” on three occasions, “Fight of the Night” twice, “Submission of the Night” twice and “Knockout of the Night” once, resulting in $410,000 of additional income.

117: Combined victories between the six men who have defeated Jung: Ortega, Yair Rodriguez, Jose Aldo, George Roop, Leonard Garcia and Masanori Kanehara. They own a cumulative record of 117-50-7 (.674).

29: Years of age for Ige, who was born in Haleiwa, Hawaii, on Aug. 6, 1991. Bryan Adams’ “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You,” Rhythm Syndicate’s “P.A.S.S.I.O.N.,” Amy Grant’s “Every Heartbeat,” D.J. Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince’s “Summertime” and Lenny Kravitz’s “It Ain’t Over ’til It’s Over” were the Top 5 songs on Billboard’s Hot 100 list at the time.

5: Ige wins by submission, accounting for 33% of his career total (15). His methods of choice: three rear-naked chokes, one armbar and one kimura. Ige owns four other wins by knockout or technical knockout and six more by decision.

125: Total strikes by which Ige has outlanded the opposition in his seven UFC victories. He has connected on 382 such strikes while absorbing 257 in return.

2,562: Days since Ige made his professional mixed martial arts debut. He submitted Spencer Higa with a third-round armbar under the Star Elite Cagefighting banner on June 14, 2014.

.707: Cumulative winning percentage between the three men—Calvin Kattar, Julio Arce and Taichi Nakajima—who have managed to beat Ige. They sport a combined record of 53-21-1.
