By The Numbers: Angela Lee vs. Nong Stamp

Brian KnappMar 23, 2022

Angela Lee has very little runway with which to work.

The Evolve MMA star will return to the One Championship cage for the first time in more than two years when she defends her women’s atomweight title against Nong Stamp in the One Championship “One X” main event on Saturday at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. Lee has lost two of her past three bouts. She has not competed since she submitted Jingnan Xiong with a rear-naked choke in the fifth round of their Oct. 12, 2019 rematch at One Championship “Century” Part 1. Stamp, meanwhile, has the wind of a three-fight winning streak at her back. She last fought at One Championship “Winter Warriors,” where she submitted Ritu Phogat with a second-round armbar in the Dec. 3 final of the promotion’s atomweight grand prix.

As Lee and Stamp approach their anticipated confrontation at 115 pounds, a look at some of the numbers that have accompanied them to this point:

25: Years of age for Lee, who was born on July 8, 1996 in Vancouver, British Columbia.

7: Lee wins by submission, accounting for 70% of her career total (10). Her methods of choice: three rear-naked chokes, one armbar, one twister, one neck crank and one anaconda choke. Lee owns one other win by knockout or technical knockout—she put away Jenny Huang with punches at One Championship “Warrior Kingdom” on March 11, 2017—and two more by decision.

2,150: Days spent by Lee as One Championship women’s atomweight titleholder. She captured the crown with a five-round unanimous decision over Mei Yamaguchi at One Championship “Ascent to Power” on May 6, 2016 and has successfully defended it on four different occasions since.

6: Countries in which Lee has plied her mixed martial arts trade. She has gone 5-0 in Singapore, 2-0 in Indonesia, 1-1 in Japan, 1-0 in the Philippines, 1-0 in Thailand and 0-1 in Malaysia.

.821: Cumulative winning percentage between the two women—Xiong and Michelle Nicolini—who have beaten Lee. They boast a combined record of 23-5.

24: Years of age for Stamp, who was born in Rayong, Thailand on Nov. 16, 1997.

3: Stamp victories by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 38% of her career total (eight). Her complete list of victims: Sunisa Srisan, Puja Tomar and Rashi Shinde. Stamp holds two other victories by submission and three more by decision.

19: Seconds needed for Stamp to cut down Shinde with a head kick in her professional debut at One Championship “One Warrior Series 2” on July 19, 2018. Having occurred nearly four years ago, it remains the fastest finish of her brief but eventful nine-fight career.

1: Loss on the Stamp ledger. She submitted to a third-round guillotine choke from Alyona Rassohyna at One Championship “Unbreakable 3” in January 2021. She avenged the setback a little more than seven months later when she eked out a split verdict against Rassohyna in their rematch.

14: Rounds completed by Stamp as a mixed martial artist. She has gone the distance on three different occasions and carries a perfect 3-0 record in those bouts.
