Yazmin Jauregui (9-0, 1-0 UFC) vs. Istela Nunes (6-3, 0-2 UFC)

ODDS: Jauregui (-305), Nunes (+255)

Jauregui lived up to the hype in her UFC debut. The undefeated Mexican prospect brought the excitement against fellow newcomer Iasmin Lucindo , as the two combined for 15 minutes of non-stop action that saw Jauregui eventually take over the fight. Jauregui is an absolute hellcat, focusing on pressure and volume above all else. That can leave some defensive openings for opponents to exploit, but thus far, it has been a tough ask to keep pace with Jauregui over three rounds. With that debut out of the way, Jauregui looks to keep things going against Brazil’s Nunes, who has had a much rougher UFC tenure to date. Nunes has shown herself to be a dangerous striker when given time and space to work, but finding her preferred fight has been an issue, as the UFC has matched her with Ariane Carnelossi and Sam Hughes—fighters who found success pressuring Nunes and taking her to the mat. Jauregui does not pursue much in the way of takedowns, but this is still a difficult stylistic matchup given how much she brings to the table in terms of aggression and volume. Nunes has shown some willingness to throw down and scrap, so there is the chance she could land something big and score the upset, but it is much likelier that Jauregui overwhelms the Brazilian over the long haul. The pick is Jauregui via second-round knockout.
