Welterweights

Sean Brady (12-0) vs. Christian Aguilera (14-6)

ODDS: Brady (-380), Aguilera (+315)

Two under-the-radar welterweights square off in this one. Philadelphia’s Brady has done an excellent job living up to the hype thus far. He is not so much of a finishing threat as a fighter who tends to build over time, so there was some concern about how he would fare in 15-minute fights instead of regional headliners. However, he has been able to adapt against strong competition, outboxing Court McGee and relying on his wrestling against Ismail Naurdiev, all while looking quite good doing so. Brady goes for his third UFC win against Aguilera, who is coming off a 59-second knockout win over Anthony Ivy in his UFC debut. Aguilera is another fighter who can do a bit of everything, as he was both a knockout artist and an occasional grinder on the regional scene. Aguilera is a tough out and has dangerous power, but Brady should be able find a path to victory, particularly with his wrestling. Aguilera looks like the type of fighter who can hit a takedown but does not have much to offer when his opponent does the same. This could be a grimy win, but the pick is Brady via decision.
