Fedor, Strikeforce Updates

The management team behind Fedor Emelianenko announced that his next fight for Strikeforce will not happen until May against Fabricio Werdum.

The fight was expected to take place in April 17 on a card broadcast on CBS. That show, booked for Nashville, Tenn., will be headlined by Jake Shields vs. Dan Henderson. Emelianenko’s Strikeforce contract is said to require his fights air on CBS, though his fight against Brett Rogers in November was originally set for Showtime.

Strikeforce also made announcements about the televising of its Feb. 26 “Challengers” event in San Jose, Calif.

The company secured a deal with Super Channel in Canada, the country’s only pay television network, to air the card, which was headlined by British Columbian Sarah Kaufman vs. Takayo Hashi to crown a women’s 135-pound champion. The card will air on tape delay Sunday night on Bravo TV in the United Kingdom. In addition, the card aired with a special interactive feature on Verizon Fios, as customers were able to access fighter stats, records, bios and quotes, vote in interactive polls, play a trivia game and view a fight calendar during the broadcast.
