6. Jason Herzog If there is a UFC, Bellator or Titan FC card going down, chances are that Herzog will be refereeing at least one of the fights on the bill. Herzog has been around for years and has been in charge of hundreds of fights. It’s a testament to his professionalism that his name is hardly ever brought up amid controversy.

Herzog was, however, the ref in the cage during the puzzling Will Brooks-Michael Chandler rematch at Bellator 131. Chandler missed a throw late in the fourth and bounced his own head off the canvas. When he tried to stand, Brooks cracked him with a right and Chandler backed into the cage, appearing to quit. Brooks closed in and finished him off as Chandler covered up, but Herzog was there to quickly step in and put end to the madness.

Chandler was woozy and asking Herzog what happened, but what made the ref’s performance a great one was that he allowed Chandler a chance to recover. Herzog was rightfully praised by virtually everybody for his work that night, but it was a microcosm of his entire career.
