Walker Foe Decided

Strikeforce announced the sophomore fight for football great Herschel Walker, as the 48-year-old American Kickboxing Academy charge will face 40-year-old Scott Carson at Strikeforce “Henderson vs. Babalu,” on Dec. 4 in St. Louis.

Carson, who made his MMA debut in 1999, had not fought since 2001 until returning in June, when he was knocked out in the first round at an event in Los Angeles. The return came after Carson recovered from a back injury. He trains with Reign Training Center in Lake Forest, Calif., and trained for years with UFC hall of famer Chuck Liddell.

Despite Walker’s complete inexperience, the opponent choice drew jeers from MMA fans on the Internet. Strikeforce responded with a press release featuring Carson firing back at “keyboard warriors.” Walker defeated Greg Nagy via first-round technical knockout in his professional MMA debut at a Strikeforce show in Miami in January.
