Not many people gave “The Beastman” a chance against Belfort, who was still in the prime of his fighting career. As it turned out, the Brazilian “Phenom” proved the experts right and blew the Las Vegas fighter out of the water in just 67 seconds at the Thomas and Mack Center. While the knockout was not the cleanest of Belfort’s career, no one watching will forget the aftermath. Eastman misfired with a wild combination of punches, and the Brazilian pounced, unloading a ferocious barrage of knees and punches that brought festivities to a close. When Eastman rose to his feet and exposed his face, a collective gasp could be heard in the crowd. Above his right eye was gruesome laceration that travelled upward, almost parallel to his entire eyebrow. The gash was about an inch wide, and those who worked on Eastman once he returned to the locker room saw exposed skull. It remains perhaps the most famous cut in MMA history.
