Shamar Bailey vs. Ryan McGillivray

The Matchup: Early in the season, Bailey looked like one of the better bets to land a slot in the Season 13 final, but a subpar showing in a controversial decision loss to Chris Cope -- he cited an injured back that affected his performance -- derailed his hopes. McGillivray looked like a game, dark horse-style entrant in the competition, showing some gritty resilience in battling Len Bentley to a decision win. However, he was blitzed out by Tony Ferguson in his next bout.

Do not be misled by Bailey’s flat performance against Cope. While his standup is virtually non-existent, his solid wrestling base remains a huge advantage. Wrestlers like Josh Koscheck were similarly wired and, after a couple years, can develop good striking; it is hard to do the opposite.

The Pick: Bailey should have it all his way once he dials in his range and scores a takedown. He will wear down McGillivray and win via stoppage in three.
