Mark Schultz's story
is quite compelling.
Where is He now?

I just want you guys to know that I'm really digging the “Where is He Now?” series. Mark Schultz has a very interesting story, and to review the history of previous MMA competitors is very interesting to me and should be continued.

Jason Probst, columnist: Thanks, Damon! We are glad to hear it. And thank you for writing in. Mark was a great interview.

We will continue chasing down names from the sport’s past, so please keep the suggestions coming!

Hate mail from the "Outer Rim"

I load up Sherdog.com and I see 8 different articles about the [expletive] WEC. To top it off, you’re having a roundtable for the event after having 2 WEC Breakdown shows. Overkill maybe?

I know you guys are trying to get on Dana [White’s] good side by helping him promote, but come the [expletive] on. I look at the rankings update and it’s all Zuffa guys.

I hope what ever Dana is paying you is worth it. You guys are a disgrace to MMA and online journalism. The Sengoku card was phenomenal and it got one story. A sub-par, [expletive] WEC card gets eight and a roundtable.

[Sherdog.com founder] Jeff [Sherwood] is the biggest douche roller of them all, and he supposedly hated Dana. Show a little green and he bends over and takes [edited for extreme adult language].

You guys are nothing but a couple of disloyal, fool ass, b---h made punks!

Jose Aldo will be a star
in mixed martial arts.
Mike Fridley, managing editor: Out of all the ridiculous, poorly thought-out beefs you spammed our inboxes with; I have to admit that I’m most troubled by your comment about WEC 36 being a less than stellar bill.

I guess you’re in that microscopically-small minority of MMA fans who feel that an athlete who registers under 170 pounds is unworthy of the limelight and a televised bout.

Shame on you, Skyballer.

Without getting into Paulo Filho’s Oliver McCall-like strangeness against Chael Sonnen in a middleweight clash, I thoroughly enjoyed the evening’s lighter-weight action, which saw respected fighters engage in memorable matches.

Mike Thomas Brown and Leonard Garcia made names for themselves with impressive first-round stoppages against champions past and present, while future stars Jose Aldo and Donald Cerrone continued to build to their respective résumés versus solid competition.

As for radio overkill, please keep in mind that each preview show was hosted by a different personality who offered observations unique to the program. If you tune in to ESPN Radio on any Monday afternoon during football season, be sure that you’ll hear banter and discussion focusing on MNF by each and every host over the course of the day.

Overkill? I don’t see it that way. We strive to offer a vast range of opinions in audio, text and video formats.

Regarding last Saturday’s Sengoku card, I see no less than nine items posted on Sherdog.com related to the event, not counting Breen’s radio breakdown. Guess you missed that one, huh?

The total picture featured a decent amount of coverage for a solid card in my eyes -- and certainly more than any other English-language outlet. Bet the farm on that one, Lube.

In lieu of your Sherwood dig, I would like to point out -- for clarity purposes -- that neither Zuffa, nor the WEC advertise on this Web site. Or Sengoku, for that matter.

May the force be with you.
