1. Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman
UFC 168 “Weidman vs. Silva 2”
Dec. 28, 2013 | Las Vegas

In what could have ended the career of arguably the greatest mixed martial artist of all-time, Silva suffered a horrific injury to his lower leg in Weidman’s first defense of the UFC middleweight crown.

At 1:16 of the second round, “The Spider” threw a left leg kick that was expertly checked by Weidman, resulting in a clean break of the Brazilian’s shin. Replays showed Silva’s foot continuing its trajectory as his leg stopped, flinging to the side like a bag of dirty laundry. “The Spider” made a miraculous recovery and fought again, but at the time, the fear was that MMA had seen the last of him.
