In what could have ended the career of arguably the greatest mixed martial artist of all time, Silva suffered a horrific injury to his lower leg in Weidman’s first defense of the UFC middleweight crown.

At 1:16 of the second round, “The Spider” threw a left leg kick that was expertly checked by Weidman, resulting in a clean break of the Brazilian’s shin. Since that fateful day at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in December, Silva has been on the road to recovery -- a road that now leads to a return bout with former Strikeforce champion Nick Diaz at UFC 183 in January.
