2. Rashad Evans

Evans entered the second season of “The Ultimate Fighter” as a lightly regarded prospect with just five pro bouts under his belt. However, as the cream tends to do, the former Michigan State University wrestler rose to the top and won the heavyweight tournament, completing his march with a split decision over Brad Imes at “The Ultimate Fighter 2” Finale. Evans was not done.

The Niagara Falls, New York, native downshifted to 205 pounds and captured Ultimate Fighting Championship gold at UFC 92 in December 2008, when he disposed of Forrest Griffin with third-round ground-and-pound to claim the light heavyweight championship. While Lyoto Machida saw to it that his stay at the top of the division was brief, Evans nevertheless had made his mark.

“Suga” has fought sporadically since his encounter with Machida, going 6-4 in 10 appearances. His excellent resume includes wins over Quinton Jackson, Dan Henderson, Phil Davis, Chael Sonnen, Chuck Liddell and Michael Bisping.
