Video: Daniel Cormier, Francis Ngannou Suffer Through Trainwreck Interview on ‘Good Day New York’

On Monday, UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and heavyweight title challenger Francis Ngannou stopped by the Fox 5 New York studios for a little promo work on “Good Day New York,” ahead of Saturday night's UFC 220 card in Boston.

It did not go well.

In a classic example of the trainwrecks that can result on live morning television, Cormier and Ngannou suffered through six minutes of being painfully interrogated by confused hosts Rosanna Scotto and Lori Stokes. Scotto begins the interview by asking how the fighters are feelings, but then it’s all downhill from there when she follows up by asking Ngannou, “Francis, what’s with the hair today?”

“It’s for the championship,” shrugs Ngannou, who challenges Stipe Miocic for the UFC heavyweight crown on Saturday night.

Scotto follows up by asking Cormier, who defends his 205-pound title against Volkan Oezdemir, about his lightweight championship and whether or not he would ever consider moving up to “the heavyweight category.” Cormier is 13-0 as a heavyweight.

Behold as they ask Cormier where he got the nickname “DC” from.

At least it’s less alarming than Chuck Liddell on “Good Morning Texas.”
