Kalajdzic Takes Out Peterkin in 5th of ShoBox Main Event

Light heavyweight contender Radivoje Kalajdzic was impressive against Travis Peterkin in the main event of ShoBox: The New Generation on Friday night. “Hot Rod” scored a sizzling fifth-round knockout to cap off a terrific night of boxing action on Showtime.

Kalajdzic (22-1, 15 KOs) took his time in figuring out his foe and when he did, he electrified the capacity crowd inside Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Okla. Kalajdzic dropped the previously-unbeaten Peterkin (16-1-1, 7 KOs) twice in the fifth and after the second felling, the fight was stopped. The official time of the TKO was 1:32 of the stanza.

In a matchup of unbeaten junior lightweights, it was knockout artist Ivan Baranchyk who had his armed raised he edged China’s Wang Zhimin over 10 rounds. Baranchyk (12-0, 10 KOs) was relentless with his pressure and forced Zhimin (7-1, 3 KOs) on his heels throughout and his pressure allowed him to win a lopsided unanimous decision via tallies of 99-91 ad 100-90 (twice).

Trey Lippe Morrison would have made his daddy proud as he flattened Ed Latimore (13-1, 7 KOs) in the first round. The son of late former heavyweight champion Tommy Morrison, Lippe Morrison (12-0, 12 KOs) floored “Black Magic” with a right and then again with a left before finally putting him away at the 2:19 mark to keep his knockout streak alive.

In the opening bout of the Showtime telecast, welterweight prospect Ivan Golub (13-0, 11 KOs) took out James Stevenson (23-3, 16 KOs) in the third. Golub put “Keep’em Sleepin” down with a flurry and then finished him off on the feet shortly thereafter, getting the TKO at the 2:51 mark.
