HBO’s Boxing After Dark returns with another night of action inside the squared circle. An intriguing doubleheader will give fans something to cheer about as two of the sport’s brightest new stars will be showcased in separate bouts.

The main event will see WBO featherweight world champion Vasyl Lomachenko move up to 130 pounds to challenge Roman “Rocky” Martinez for his WBO junior lightweight strap. Lomachenko (5-1, 3 KOs) is regarded as the finest amateur boxing of this generation with hundreds of wins and two Olympic gold medals under his belt. At Friday’s weigh-ins, the Ukrainian tipped the scale at 129.6 pounds.

Martinez (29-2-3, 17 KOs) has won his title on three separate occasions, but doesn’t plan on losing it to Lomachenko Saturday night. The Puerto Rican is coming off two electrifying wars with Orlando Salido but he’ll be opposing someone with a polar opposite fighting style when he defends his title. “Rocky” weighed in officially at 129.8 pounds.

The co-feature will Felix Verdejo (21-0, 14 KOs) taking on Juan Jose Martinez (25-2, 17 KOs) in a 10-round lightweight matchup. The fight will be another edition of the long-running rivalry between Mexico and Puerto Rico and both men looked in tip-top shape at the scales. Verdejo checked in at 134.8 pounds while his Mexican adversary came in at 133.8.

The action will be televised live from inside the Theatre at Madison Square Garden in New York starting at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.
