At Friday afternoon’s weigh-ins, heavyweights Tony Thompson and Luis Ortiz crushed the scales. Though they needn’t cut a severe amount of poundage because their weight division, the two big men still looked sharp. Thompson (40-6, 27 KOs) clocked in officially at 263.8 pounds while Ortiz (24-0, 21 KOs) weighed 242.6.
In the welterweight co-feature, young contenders Sadam Ali and Jessie Vargas both were chiseled at the scale and both came in at or under the 147-pound limit. Ali (22-0, 13 KOs) was right on the money at 147 pounds. Vargas (26-1, 9 KOs) was slightly lighter; he popped in at 146.2 pounds.
