Joshua Silveira on Facing Teammate Omari Akhmedov in PFL Playoffs: It's Part of the Business

Joshua Silveira won’t let anything—even camaraderie with a teammate—keep him from his dream of seizing the $1 million prize in the Professional Fighters League.

PFL Challenger Series graduate Silveira (9-0, 2-0 PFL) landed his place in the upcoming light heavyweight playoffs after agreeing to replace injured 2021 titleholder Antonio Carlos Jr. against UFC veteran Omari Akhmedov. The opportunity came with a catch, however: Silveira is the son of American Top Team co-founder Marcus "Conan" Silveira and a longtime teammate and training partner of Akhmedov. When asked whether the situation was uncomfortable for him, Silveira claimed that their team has dealt with similar situations in the past and knows how to handle them professionally.
