One Championship 26 Weigh-in Results: Ben Askren, Luis Santos Cleared for Main Event



Ben Askren believes he is the best welterweight in the world. He will have yet another opportunity to state his case against 71-fight veteran Luis Santos.

Both Askren and Santos made weight without issue ahead of their scheduled 170-pound championship showdown at One Championship 26. Askren tipped the scales at 170 pounds at Thursday’s weigh-ins, while Santos checked in at 170.

One Championship 26 “Valor of Champions” takes place on Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, Philippines and is available via pay-per-view.

A four-time NCAA All-American wrestler at the University of Missouri, Askren has won 14 straight fights to begin his professional tenure. The former Bellator MMA kingpin has earned first-round stoppages against Nobutatsu Suzuki and Bakhtiyar Abbasov in his first two One Championship appearances and has finished his last four fights overall.

Santos will enter the bout on a seven-fight winning streak. The 35-year-old Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt has finished 48 of his 61 pro triumphs by way of knockout, technical knockout or submission. He owns notable victories over Ildemar Alcantara, Jorge Patino, Ivan Jorge and Shamar Bailey.
