On Thursday, MMA Junkie first reported that Jessica Eye (15-10, 1 NC) would be taking on Manon Fiorot (8-1) at an upcoming UFC Fight Night card on March 5. The two 125-pounders are expected to fight inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, although that venue has not yet been made official. Both Fiorot and Eye confirmed the pairing on their respective social media pages.

Dating back to a 2020 meeting with Cynthia Calvillo, Eye has struggled inside the Octagon, dropping a trio of decisions to Calvillo, Joanne Wood and Jennifer Maia. The former title challenger last prevailed in 2019, snagging a unanimous verdict over Viviane Araujo. “Evil Eye” earned a crack at the belt by stringing three wins together in 2018, although she fell short due to a thunderous head kick from champ Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 238.

Since her unsuccessful professional debut where the Frenchwoman collided with future Bellator MMA featherweight contender Leah McCourt, Fiorot has not lost. Thanks to five straight victories under the EFC and UAE Warriors banners, “The Beast” garnered a short-notice opportunity against Victoria Leonardo in January. Fiorot has rattled off three wins inside the Octagon in 2021, starting with Leonardo, moving on to knock out Tabatha Ricci, and settling for a decision win over Mayra Bueno Silva in October.

The currently unnumbered UFC Fight Night event on March 5 may take place in Las Vegas at the UFC Apex, but it could change depending on the status of the coronavirus pandemic. Only one other match is currently booked for the card, in the form of a 145-pound thriller between Edson Barboza and Bryce Mitchell.
