The Walkmen: UFC Fight Night ‘Nelson vs. Ponzinibbio’
The
Ultimate Fighting Championship on Sunday returned to Glasgow,
Scotland, with
UFC Fight Night 113 at The SSE Hydro. A showdown between Gunnar
Nelson and Santiago Ponzinibbio headlined the event, and the two
welterweights added touches of their own with the walkout music
they selected.
Much to the delight of Scottish fight fans, Kaleo’s “Way Down We Go” brought Nelson to the cage, while La Renga’s “Hablando de la Libertad” trumpeted Ponzinibbio’s arrival. Meanwhile, hometown hero Joanne Calderwood faced Cynthia Calvillo in the three-round co-main event. DJ Sakin’s “Protect Your Mind” was the song of choice for Calderwood, as Calvillo countered with House of Pain’s “Jump Around” in a bid to keep her perfect professional record intact.
Other standout tracks included The Royal Scots Dragoon Guard’s “Amazing Grace” (Steven Ray); 50 Cent’s “Many Men (Wish Death)” (Alexandre Pantoja) and Damian Marley’s “Welcome to Jamrock” (Leslie Smith). Justin Willis doubled up -- Kendrick Lamar’s “DNA” and Eminem’s “Till I Collapse” -- on his entrance music.
A rundown of the remaining tracks follows:
Paul Felder: Dropkick Murphys | “Shipping Up to Boston (Merc Dudes in Brooklyn Remix)”
Jack Marshman: Giggs | “Tick Tock”
