No. 9

9. Sam Stout

Stout was a difficult out in his prime. “Hands of Stone” used crisp kickboxing skills to carve out his path to the Ultimate Fighting Championship, where he engaged in a memorable trilogy with Spencer Fisher. A former TKO Major League MMA champion and protégé of the late Shawn Tompkins, the London, Ontario, native has made 20 appearances inside the Octagon. While his UFC record stands at 9-11, Stout has racked up seven post-fight performance bonuses, six of them for “Fight of the Night.”

Though he has never fought for a UFC championship, Stout owns victories over Joe Lauzon, Caros Fodor, Yves Edwards and Matt Wiman. According to FightMetric statistics, he ranks second on the all-time list among UFC lightweights in significant strikes landed (990) and fourth in total strikes landed (1,202). Only Gleison Tibau and Jim Miller have spent more time competing in the Octagon at 155 pounds than Stout (3:57:52).
